As a kid, I was always fascinated by computer games. My father always encouraged me to learn computers, hence, I joined a computer class, when it wasn’t even a thing. I studied computer languages there and gradually it became my happy place. Later, I earned my first job and that was the beginning of my affection towards IT.
While I was working on-site, I remember how my colleagues loved eating Indian food especially Vada Pav and Upma. It used to be difficult to cook for 8-10 people all by myself, but somehow managed to do it all.
Life kept happening and I kept moving.
In 2020, when COVID-19 made its entry in the most unwelcoming way, it left everyone in chaos. But me and my wife decided to add a little spice to our life and started ‘Gold-Crush Foods’, a start-up for spices. India and spices are a match made in heaven. Spices are only used add flavor to our food but they are also used to treat many ailments. They flatter our sense, smell with delicious fragrance, tongue with unique taste and eyes with vibrant colors. Spices have also been used in many rituals as well.
Just like most of the Maharashtrian households, my elders made fine spices at home. Today we buy everything at Walmart or D-mart but back then, this wasn’t an option. Although it does seem feasible, but the authenticity of the spices are compromised, causing the essence of traditional foods to diminish. So as to keep the essence of homemade spices alive, they need to re-enter the market. And that is what we’re trying to do.
Our aim at Gold-Crush Foods is to keep the long-established food in the heart & minds of people. We prefer Kesar from Kashmir. Why? Quality. The same is the case with every other spice. Spices with impurities will fail to pass the test just like a faulty code. You won’t feel that unique tang that you get from natural Spices. We sell homemade spices made in a conventional manner and the taste is loved by the customers.
We’re planning to grow digitally for which analyzing the customers’ outlook would be the key. Along with a great deal of experience and family support, I am learning to manage it. Major portion of the sales is dependent on how one advertises and showcases their products. The pivotal source of advertisement for Gold-Crush Foods is fusing humor with product details and creating memes out of it, and all I can say is that our sales are improving steadily.
To sum it up, I would say that every situation has its own positives and negatives but in the end, what matters is how we deal with the circumstances because a well perceived one often becomes opportunities.
